Shafi Mohammed
Chief Data Officer of the Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety
Shafi Mohammed was named the first chief data officer for the Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety on April 15, 2024. He is responsible for leading policy collaboration, program formulation, and procedures emphasizing data analysis and Geographic Information System (GIS) to enhance data-driven decision-making. He oversees workforce planning, budget management, and the advancement of Energy Safety’s strategic priorities with partners across various sectors.
Prior to joining Energy Safety, Mohammed served as the vice president of enterprise architecture, data management, and analytics at Shaw Industries.
Mohammed’s career spans more than 20 years of leadership experience in IT and data management, marked by roles that have fostered technological modernization and operational efficiencies. His expertise includes leading digital transformations, implementing strategic data governance, and advocating for data integrity and security.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Osmania University in India. He holds a master’s degree in computer science from West Chester University and has completed an executive management program at the Wharton School of Business.
Mohammed is also recognized for his contributions to business and technology leadership across various industries, including his advisory role at Modal and as an executive coach at Exponent.
