Electric Safety Policy Division

The Electric Safety Policy Division includes staff with a variety of background: from policy analysts to engineers and environmental scientists. Responsibilities include analyzing and evaluating the electrical corporations’ annual Wildfire Mitigation Plans, evaluating the electrical corporation’s safety certification submissions, conducting Safety Culture Assessments, and reviewing executive compensation structures submitted by the electrical corporations.

Compliance Assurance Division

The Compliance Assurance Division oversees electrical corporation compliance with approved Wildfire Mitigation Plans. In executing this mission, the Compliance Assurance Division performs audits, inspections, and investigations, as needed. The scope of these activities range from review of records to physical assessment of electrical lines and equipment.

Underground construction work

Electrical Undergrounding Division

The Electrical Undergrounding Division oversees the approval or denial of electrical corporations’ voluntary 10-year plans to underground electric distribution lines in high fire threat districts per SB 884 and monitors compliance with an approved plan.
