Per Government Code 4216.17, the Board is required to meet annually to discuss the existing education and outreach needs among stakeholders, and how to best coordinate existing education and outreach efforts with state and local government agencies, California operators, the regional notification centers, and trade organizations that fund safe excavation education programs.

The California Underground Facilities Safe Excavation Board’s Second Annual Education and Outreach meeting was held on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s Central District Yard Auditorium. The meeting featured presentations on the Board’s education and outreach efforts, the results of its online survey, and the trends Board investigators have identified in the field. The meeting also featured a workshop discussion about education and outreach needs, and a panel discussion on improving communication between excavators and utility owners in the field.

The California Underground Facilities Safe Excavation Board’s first Education and Outreach meeting was held on Wednesday, April 19, 2018 at the Long Beach Hilton’s Catalina Room. The meeting featured a disccsoin about industry education and outreach needs.
