Sept. 17, 2026
Sacramento – The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) today issued its Annual Performance Report (formerly Annual Report on Compliance) for Pacific Gas and Electric’s (PG&E) 2024 Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP).
Energy Safety’s annual performance report is a comprehensive assessment of the implementation of PG&E’s 2024 WMP and its wildfire risk reduction initiatives. PG&E completed 54 of 56 (96%) of its 2024 WMP initiatives. The missed targets were for system hardening transmission shunt splices and wood and slash management.
While PG&E met nearly all WMP commitments during 2024, their two missed targets, recurring data quality issues, and recommended improvements in its QA/QC programs for asset inspections provide examples where PG&E must continue to demonstrate progress.
Energy Safety will scrutinize PG&E’s future WMP performance and report on any failures to achieve its objectives to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire in California.
