Energy Safety Releases Substantial Vegetation Management Audit of SCE’s 2021 Wildfire Mitigation Plan Update

SACRAMENTO – The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) today released its audit of Southern California Edison’s (SCE) substantial vegetation management work in 2021. The audit found that there were five 2021 Wildfire Mitigation Plan Update (WMP) initiatives that must be corrected. The five initiatives to be corrected involved SCE achieving fewer than its planned targets in fuels management work, LiDAR transmission line and circuit inspections, substation inspections, and in two instances, hazard tree inspections.

SCE will have 10 days to correct the deficiencies specified in the audit. Energy Safety also found that SCE performed the work required for the remaining 15 initiatives in its WMP.
