Underground Safety Board Unanimously Elects Amparo Muñoz as Board Chair and Bill Johns as Vice Chair

SACRAMENTO – Underground Safety Board Vice Chair Amparo Muñoz was unanimously elected Board Chair and Board Member Bill Johns was unanimously elected Board Vice Chair during the Board’s meeting on Mon. Jan. 9.

Board members hold leadership positions for one calendar year with members eligible to retain the chair position for a two-year maximum.

Member Muñoz has served as vice chair since 2021 and was originally appointed to the Board by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon on April 11, 2018. Member Muñoz, of Fontana, works as a Senior Engineering Tech at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

Member Johns has served since he was appointed by Appointed Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. on December 18, 2017. Member Johns, of Huntington Beach, has been vice president at Utility Coordinating Inc. since 2014.
