Energy Safety and CPUC to Hold Virtual Public Forums on Electrical Utility Safety Practices

SACRAMENTO – California’s electrical corporations’ safety practices will be highlighted during two virtual public forums on Sept. 14 and 22, both from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The events will include an opportunity for public comment.

The forum on Sept. 14 will feature presentations from Bear Valley Electric Service (BVES) and Southern California Edison (SCE). The forum on Sept. 22 will feature presentations from San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) and Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E). Board members from each of the utilities will discuss their company’s electrical infrastructure safety efforts.

The Office of Energy Safety Infrastructure (Energy Safety) and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will host the forums in keeping with their joint commitment to safety and transparency. While this safety briefing satisfies the requirements of Public Utilities Code section 8389(e)(5), no decisions on an organization’s safety certification will be made. Regarding the CPUC, although a quorum of Commissioners, their advisors or other decision-makers may be present, no action will be taken at these events.

This forum is hosted by Energy Safety and the CPUC and will be virtual only.
