SACRAMENTO – Energy Safety today issued its Annual Report on Compliance (ARC) for the approved 2022 Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) Update of Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E).
Energy Safety’s evaluation found that Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) completed 129 of 139 of its 2022 WMP Update initiative activities, including six of the ten initiatives with the largest planned expenditure. However, PG&E failed to meet its commitments for eight of its WMP initiative activities in 2022, seven of which were vegetation management initiative activities. PG&E did not provide sufficient information for Energy Safety to determine compliance with two additional initiative activities.
Energy Safety will continue to monitor PG&E’s implementation of its ongoing wildfire mitigation activities and push the company to improve its ability to ultimately eliminate utility-caused catastrophic wildfires in California.
Energy Safety is required to conduct an annual assessment of the electrical corporations’ implementation of their approved WMPs and WMP Updates.
The ARCs for Bear Valley Electric Service, Trans Bay Cable, Liberty Utilities, Southern California Edison, Horizon West Transmission, San Diego Gas and Electric, and PacifiCorp were released on Feb. 14, Dec. 12, Nov. 8, Oct. 21, Sept. 24, Sept. 26, and Oct. 1, respectively. Additional ARCs on approved 2022 WMP Updates for the remaining electrical corporations will be released in the coming weeks.
