Energy Safety Releases Revised Draft 2026-2028 Wildfire Mitigation Plan Guidelines, Solicits Public Comment

SACRAMENTO – Today, Energy Safety released its Revised Draft 2026-2028 Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) Guidelines for a second round of public comment. Release of the draft guidelines initiates a 30-day public comment period.

Written comments are due by Feb. 16 and must be submitted to the 2026 to 2028 Electrical Corporation Wildfire Mitigation Plans docket (#2026-2028-WMPs) in Energy Safety’s e-filing system. The proposed guidelines will be considered for adoption at a public meeting in February.

The guidelines were first released for 30 days of public comment on Nov. 12. Energy Safety promulgates guidelines that the electrical corporations must follow in the development of their three-year base WMPs, annual WMP Updates, and during their annual WMP compliance period.
