SACRAMENTO – The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) today released revisions to the proposed updates to its Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) Compliance Guidelines. The original proposed updates to the WMP Compliance Guidelines were published for public comment on June 5, 2024, with written comments due July 5, 2024. Energy Safety held a meeting on July 16, 2024, to receive verbal comments. Energy Safety received two written comment letters and no verbal comments. Based on the comments received, Energy Safety is proposing two revisions. Release of the revisions initiates a 30-day public comment period.
The Compliance Guidelines provide requirements that the electrical corporations must follow during and after their annual WMP compliance period. The proposed WMP Compliance Guidelines, with the two revisions, will be considered for adoption at a public meeting (to be scheduled) and written public comments will be accepted only on the proposed revisions until August 26, 2024.
