Decision Moves to CPUC for Ratification
SACRAMENTO – The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) today released its evaluation and approval of Liberty Utilities’ (Liberty) 2023-2025 Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP). Energy Safety’s Liberty 2023-2025 WMP decision moves to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) for ratification.
Energy Safety’s decision found that Liberty’s WMP was strong in the area of continued development of its Integrated Vegetation Management Program. The decision also identified areas for continued improvement for Liberty’s future WMP updates.
California’s electrical corporations are required to submit three-year WMPs, updated annually, to Energy Safety for review and approval. Liberty submitted its 2023-2025 WMP in May. In September, Energy Safety released its draft decision of Liberty’s WMP for public review and comment. Following the incorporation of public comment, Energy Safety released its approval of the plan. Energy Safety WMP decisions move to the CPUC for ratification.
Energy Safety approved Horizon West Transmission’s, Trans Bay Cable’s, and LS Power’s 2023-2025 WMPs on Jan. 30. There is one remaining 2023-2025 WMP (PacifiCorp.) under Energy Safety review and evaluation.
