Energy Safety to Hold Virtual Meeting for Public Adoption of 2023 Safety Certification Guidelines

SACRAMENTO – The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) will hold a virtual meeting on Wed., June 28, 1 p.m., for public adoption of its 2023 Safety Certification Guidelines. The guidelines set requirements that electrical corporations must meet for issuance of a safety certification. Public comment was solicited on the draft guidelines between May 3 and June 2.

Additional public comment will be taken during the meeting. A safety certification is designed to encourage electrical corporations to invest in safety and to improve safety culture, limit wildfire risks, and reduce costs. It also serves as documentation that an electrical corporation has completed statutory actions related to safety.
