Energy Safety and CPUC to Hold Public Briefings on Utility Safety Practices, Take Public Comment

The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will hold two public safety briefings (also virtual) on Aug. 28 and 29 in San Francisco. The briefings will feature presentations from five of California’s investor-owned utilities on each of their safety practices, safety performance, and related safety efforts.

On Aug. 28 from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., the briefings will feature presentations from Bear Valley Electric Service (BVES) and Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E). On Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the briefings will feature presentations from Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), and Southern California Edison (SCE).

Members of the Boards of Directors and senior leadership of BVES, PG&E, SoCalGas, SDG&E, and SCE will present and answer questions from Energy Safety Director Caroline Thomas Jacobs and CPUC Commissioners.

There will also be an opportunity for public comment at the end of each briefing.
