The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) is leading the state’s effort to change how utilities build, operate, and maintain their electrical grids to reduce the risk of utility-ignited wildfires amid an ever-evolving climate. Energy Safety has a dedicated team of engineers, scientists, inspectors, attorneys, and policy analysts who are pushing utilities to be smarter and more efficient in how they identify and target their wildfire mitigation activities. Energy Safety is a department of the California Natural Resources Agency and has its main office in a LEED Platinum Certified Building in downtown Sacramento.
