SACRAMENTO – The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) today released its Draft 2027 Wildfire Mitigation Plan Update (WMP) Guidelines for public comment. Release of the draft guidelines initiates a 30-day public comment period.
California’s electrical corporations must follow the guidelines in the development of their WMPs, in this case for their 2027 WMP Updates. The guidelines establish requirements that include areas of continued improvement, risk models, new or discontinued programs, approved targets, and projected expenditures.
Public comments will be accepted until Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. Comments must be submitted to the WMP Guidelines Docket and titled: “[Commenter Name] Comments on the Draft Wildfire Mitigation Plans Update Guidelines [Attachment #].”
