Energy Safety Releases Substantial Vegetation Management Audit and Report of the Liberty Utilities’ 2023 Wildfire Mitigation Plan

Sacramento – The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) today released its audit and report of Liberty Utilities’ (Liberty) vegetation management work in 2023. Energy Safety’s audit and found that Liberty substantially complied with a substantial portion of the vegetation management requirements in its 2023-2025 Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) for compliance year 2023.

Energy Safety’s audit found that Liberty provided enough information to verify the completion of work in eight of 13 vegetation management initiatives in its 2023-2025 Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) for its vegetation management work in 2023.

Of the five initiatives for which Energy Safety identified deficiencies (fall-in mitigation, substation defensible space, high-risk species, quality assurance and control, and open work orders), Liberty submitted a corrective action plan and was able to provide additional information demonstrating substantial compliance for four (fall-in mitigation, substation defensible space, high-risk species, and quality assurance and control) of the deficient initiatives. For the remaining one initiative, (open work orders) Liberty was unable to provide sufficient information demonstrating that it completed a majority of the work.

No further action is required.
