Energy Safety Releases Draft 2025 Wildfire Mitigation Plan Update Guidelines for Public Comment

Date Set for Virtual Public Workshop

Sacramento – The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) today released its Draft 2025 Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) Update Guidelines for public comment. Energy Safety will also hold a virtual public workshop on the guidelines, Nov. 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Public comments on the Draft 2025 WMP Update Guidelines may be submitted beginning Oct. 31, but no later than Dec. 6.

The WMP update guidelines assist California’s electrical corporations in meeting a statutory requirement to submit three-year WMPs to Energy Safety on an annual basis for review and approval. The Draft 2025 WMP Update Guidelines, when adopted, will require the electrical corporations to narrow the focus of their annual updates to five specific areas: updates to risk models; changes to approved targets, identifying objectives and expenditures; quarterly inspection targets for 2025; new or discontinued programs; and progress on areas for continued improvement.
