Energy Safety Releases Draft 2023 Safety Culture Assessment Guidelines, Solicits Public Comment

SACRAMENTO – The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) today released its Draft 2023 Safety Culture Assessment (SCA) Guidelines. Release of the guidelines begins a 30-day public comment period.

Public comments will be accepted no later than March 27. Replies to public comments may be submitted no later than April 6. Comments may be submitted to Energy Safety’s e-filing system in the Safety Culture Assessment Guidelines docket (#2023-SCAs).

Energy Safety conducts safety culture assessments of California’s electrical corporations to evaluate their growth toward building strong, sustainable safety cultures. By agreeing to implement its most recent SCA findings, an electrical corporation is considered in “good standing,” one of the eligibility requirements for a safety certification.

The guidelines will be considered for adoption during a virtual public meeting on Wed. April 12, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
